On
Friday August 14, 2020, Alexis Rose Mitchell passed away at the age of 68 after
a long struggle with Multiple System Atrophy. Alexis was born September 29,
1951 to Alexander and Margaret (nee Bauer) Nabe in Roblin, MB, the 2nd of 6
children. Alexis grew up on the family farm in Manitoba, east of Togo, SK,
attending elementary school in Makaroff and high school in Roblin. After high
school she worked in Winnipeg for Vital Statistics. On September 4, 1971 she
married Scott Mitchell. They lived in Togo until 1984 when they moved to
Saskatoon. They raised 5 sons, Jonathan, Greg, David, Bryan, and Darren. Alexis
was always willing to try something new and loved golfing, quilting, bird
watching, puzzles and much more. She was an active participant at Faith Lutheran
Church, enjoying time at Bible study and singing in the choir. Center in her
life was her family, with frequent trips back home to the Togo area to visit
loved ones. She particularly loved playing cards, board games and video games
with her friends and family. She also loved curling, especially at the annual
Roblin Bonspiel with her sisters. Later in life she became an avid Blue Jays
fan, even taking a special trip with some of her family to see them. She was as
happy winning as losing, as long as she was spending time with her friends and
family. Alexis was preceded in death by her father and mother, Alexander and
Margaret. She is survived by her husband, Scott, her son Jonathan (Deb) and
their children Emily, Nathan, Alexander, and Lucas, son Greg (Erin) and their
children William and Julia, son David (Katriona) and their children James,
Robbie, and Penny, son Bryan (Arleece) and their daughter Isabelle, son Darren
(Charlotte) and their son Rohan. She is also survived by her siblings Diana,
Sandra, Gerald, Jack and Donna, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces,
and nephews. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of
flowers the family would appreciate donations made to Parkinson Canada
(#110B-2103 Airport Dr., Saskatoon, SK S7L 6W2) in Alexis’ memory. Arrangements
in care of David Schurr – Mourning Glory Funeral Services (306) 978-5200.
